A beloved South Boston hangout is taking a short break so it can come back better than ever.

The Broadway temporarily closed its doors at 726 E Broadway on June 30, 2025 for what the team calls an “intermission.”

In an upbeat Instagram post announcing the news, the eatery shared, “Think of it as an intermission to refresh and rejuvenate before we come back even better than before… We can’t wait to return with new energy, new vibes, and a whole lot of excitement. The best is yet to come. 🍸💫”

Since opening in 2017, The Broadway has become known for its lively atmosphere, communal cocktails, and crowd-pleasing weekend brunch, serving up creative comfort eats like breakfast burritos, tiramisu pancakes, and caramel apple coffee cake.

Beyond brunch, fans flock to the restaurant for lunch, dinner, and late-night bites, from hearty bowls and salads to pizzas, burgers, and stacked sandwiches.

A representative for The Broadway told What Now Boston that the eatery is slated to reopen by the end of summer 2025. Meanwhile, Caught in Southie reports that “the revamp will blend everything you know and love with a few surprises,” promising updates to both the aesthetics and menu.

The Broadway is part of Broadway Hospitality Group, the team behind local chain Tavern in the Square, The Mercantile in Worcester, and The Derby in Salem.

While the Southie favorite gets its glow-up, locals can keep the good times rolling at The Playwright, The Broadway’s sister spot just down the street. The team plans to share a press release with more details next week, so stay tuned for updates.
