  • So far, the recalled shipment has only reached a single customer in North Carolina, according to the FDA.

FDA Announces a Class I Recall for Organic Blueberries

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ordered a Class I recall of organic blueberries distributed by a Georgia-based brand. Following routine product testing on or before July 1, the results returned positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

A Class I recall is the FDA’s most serious designation, reserved for products that pose a risk of serious illness or death.

The decision affected about 400 boxes (collectively weighing 12,000 pounds) of blueberries distributed by Alma Pak International LLC.

The products distributed by Alma Pak International LLC were initially recalled on June 9, 2025. The agency elevated the recall following confirmation of listeria contamination. The latest decision marked the old recall’s elevation to the highest-risk Class I category.

As of now, only a North Carolina-based customer has received a shipment of the recalled product. The FDA has not shared many details about whether the buyer was a retailer or distributor.

Product Description

Here’s how to identify the affected product:

  • Product – Organic Bulk Blueberries
  • Company – Alma Pak International LLC (230 Pineview Rd, Alma, GA 31510-4326)
  • Quantity – 400/30lb boxes

Next Steps for Consumers

Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea, and can be especially dangerous for pregnant individuals, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.

While the current Class I recall is ongoing, those with the symptoms of listeriosis should connect with their healthcare providers. Anyone in possession of the affected lot numbers should discard the product immediately.
