A longtime favorite deli, Nixon’s Deli, will shut down its operations next month. Knoxville’s deli announced a permanent closure on social media. Due to a property ownership change, the restaurant is closing its doors.

Knoxville’s Nixon’s Deli to Close Kingston Pike Location

Nixon’s Deli is a family-owned restaurant in the Knoxville neighborhood. The restaurant serves steamed sandwiches and has operated in East Tennessee for decades.

Located at 5716 Kingston Pike, the Bearden location will officially close its doors on September 10. The team announced the closure on social media with an emotional farewell message.

The team talked about the significance of the building and said, “This location has been part of our family and part of Bearden for a very long time. The building itself has long been associated with Nixon’s, and we have been fortunate to build lasting relationships with so many of you over the decades.”

The team behind the deli thanked the community for the support and for staying by their side all these years. “It has been an honor to be part of your routines, celebrations, and everyday lives,” they added.

What Led to the Closure

According to the closure announcement, the restaurant building has been sold. The deli was unable to renegotiate the lease with the new building owners.

The team stated, “Under the current ownership, that relationship is ending, and our tenancy at this address will conclude in mid-September.”

The team said the closure was not related to the restaurant’s business performance. The team said it is searching for a new location in the area and plans to reopen.

The restaurant has two other locations on Peters Road and Merchant Drive, which will continue to serve the community.

For its final month of operation, the restaurant team invited the community to visit and enjoy their favorite meal one more time. The team said it looks forward to welcoming customers at a future location.
