After more than two decades of service, a cherished Mexican restaurant permanently closes its doors. Lubbock staple, Nora’s Mexican Restaurant served its final meal on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The restaurant owner said unforeseen changes and health issues led to the decision to close permanently.
Family-Owned Mexican Restaurant Nora’s Announces Permanent Closure
Located at 417 Frankford Avenue in Lubbock, Texas, Nora’s Mexican Restaurant was a family-owned establishment. It was one of the most popular restaurants in the neighborhood for the last 25 years. The restaurant was well-known for serving authentic Mexican comfort food, giant breakfast burritos, fresh homemade tortillas, and more.
Owned and operated by husband and wife Nora and Sergio Marquez, the restaurant announced that it officially closed its doors on August 1. The owners shared an emotional message on social media. They stated that the restaurant had to make this difficult decision and step away from the business.
“Twenty-five years ago, my husband and I opened our doors with a dream and a lot of hard work,” said the team.
The team expressed their gratitude for the community and customers and wrote, “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, for supporting us, and for allowing us to be part of your lives. We will carry your kindness, friendships, and your memories with us always.”
Farewell Message for the Community
In the post, the owner shared that due to unforeseen circumstances, the restaurant has decided to close.
“After many prayers and many tears, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close our restaurant. It was not a decision we wanted to make, but one we knew we had to make,” said the owner.
The owner addressed the community, “Twenty-five years isn’t measured just in the meals you served. It’s measured in birthdays celebrated, anniversaries, graduations, business meetings, family gatherings, and ordinary days that became special because people chose to spend them at Nora’s.”
The owner also said that closing Nora’s is more than closing a business: “It is saying goodbye to a chapter of our lives that has meant everything to us. Our doors may be closing, but the friendships, memories, and love that grew will remain with us forever.”
This closure of Nora’s Mexican Restaurant marks the sad ending of a longtime journey.
