Breakfast, brunch, and lunch specific restaurants are enjoying a golden era. These concepts, dedicated to serving the early (and afternoon) birds have truly taken the market by storm, with a variety of chains spreading their pancakes and quiches across the nation. HomeGrown: A Daytime Eatery, a newer entrant into the field, is getting ready to give Alexandria eaters a taste of what it can do; the concept is opening in the neighborhood in August, reports local media outlet ALXNow.

HomeGrown has signage up at its new 1600 King Street home. The restaurant will be making not only its Alexandria debut but its Virginia entry in the space that previously housed BRACO Brasserie. Social media posts on the chain’s official Facebook account show that the eatery is actively hiring employees ahead of its August 11 opening.

HomeGrown may be a new face and name to most Virginia foodies, but the brand is eager to become a vibrant part of the local community. Part of what makes the chain so special is its commitment to working with local brands. In a Facebook post introducing itself to its new neighbors, HomeGrown explains: “We are a daytime eatery committed to serving up locally-sourced dishes from NoVA’s favorites, like Kenny Produce & Gourmet, Bubba’s Sweet Nectar, Logan’s Meats, Swing’s Coffee Roasters, Whole Health Teas, and more.”

Future guests will need to make sure they pop into the restaurant relatively early; living up to the “daytime eatery” part of its name, HomeGrown’s hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
