The Mexican restaurant known for breakfast burritos is continuing expansion in the suburbs.
It was recently reported by The Daily Herald that Guzman y Gomez is building a new location in Naperville. This follows their recent opening in Des Plaines near O’Hare International Airport. The new spot will be going in place of a vacant two-story building in the Fox River Commons shopping center at 844 S Route 59.
The other Naperville location opened in 2020 at 1519 N Naper Boulevard. The company also operates in Des Plaines, Evanston, Deerfield, Schaumburg and Crystal Lake. It originally was started in 2006 in Sydney Australia by Steven Marks and Robert Hazan.
When speaking on the phone with Jason Trombley, head of U.S. development for the company, he said the restaurant will open next summer, and it will be corporate-owned. Guzman y Gomez franchises as well.
The restaurant advertises “clean food” on their website. They serve entrees, breakfast, fillings and desserts. The popular breakfast burritos feature choices of crispy bacon, chicken chorizo and vegetables with hash browns and jack cheese.
The new Guzman y Gomez will be right across the street from Fox Valley Mall. It will join other restaurants such as Surya Tiffins Indian, VAI’s Italian Inspired Restaurant Kitchen + Bar and Friaco’s Mexican Restaurant Cantina & Hola Amor.
