Three decades after opening its original location in Germantown, Monell’s is expanding with a new location, according to a social media announcement earlier this summer. It will open at The Harbor House in Ashland City this fall, according to the post.

Founder Michael King opened Monell’s in 1995. It serves family-style Southern food, such as fried chicken, grits, cornbread and biscuits.

Monell’s has had some different locations throughout the area over the years, but the original Germantown location is the only one currently left open. As a result, the Ashland City location will be the second location for the brand.

“Get ready Ashland City. The best skillet fried chicken is heading to Cheatham County in the near future,” a social media announcement earlier this year states. “We are excited.”

Renovations are currently underway on the spot.

Ashland City has been receiving some new businesses lately. Hangar 13 Distillery just opened there earlier this month, bringing a new gathering spot to the community.

An exact opening date for Monell’s in Ashland City is still forthcoming. King confirmed the forthcoming location with What Now Nashville.
