Celebrity chef and restaurateur Jason Santos (of Buttermilk & Bourbon, Citrus & Salt, Butterbird, and Hell’s Kitchen fame) has closed Nash Bar & Stage in Boston’s Theater District to make way for a fresh concept.
Taking over the 253 Tremont St space is Ghost Light Tavern, a new nightlife venue billing itself as “Boston’s Newest High Dive and Club.” According to the tavern’s Instagram bio, the project is a collaboration between Santos and the team behind Southie’s Clock Tavern.
While the full menu is still under wraps, a now-expired job posting hinted at the culinary direction, noting that the executive chef will work with Santos to create a “craveable, chef-driven menu that brings tavern classics into the now.” Diners can expect bold, scratch-made takes on familiar favorites, such as elevated burgers and artisanal pizzas.
A teaser video offers a taste of the atmosphere: billiards, comfort food, and late-night revelry, all delivered with what’s promised to be “unmatched energy.” Though Ghost Light Tavern’s team couldn’t be reached for comment, the venue’s social media pages suggest that it will be open by the end of September 2025.
Inspired by Nashville’s lively music scene, Nash Bar & Stage opened in early 2022 with a menu of Southern-inspired dishes and a regular lineup of live performances. The curtain closed on its final show on May 31, 2025.
