After more than 35 years of serving up classic Thai dishes at 27 Grove St, Amarin of Thailand has closed its doors following the expiration of its Wellesley lease. But the beloved eatery is already preparing for its next chapter.
Although the owners had originally hoped to reopen in the former Spice & Pepper space in Wayland, a partner told What Now Boston that those plans ultimately fell through. Instead, they’ve set their sights on a new undisclosed location.
The team is currently negotiating a lease and hopes to finalize the deal before the end of August 2025. Once everything is official, they’ll announce the exact address and reopening timeline.
And while the restaurant is changing locations, the experience will remain familiar. The new outpost will keep the same Amarin of Thailand name, style, and recipes that won over Wellesley diners for more than three decades.
Fans can expect the return of staples like vegetable spring rolls, hot & sour shrimp soup, hot tangerine duck, pad see-ew, and black pepper curry.
“It’s going to be under the same name, you know, same corporation, same website, same everything,” said the partner. “Because this is where we started and where we’ve been for 36 years.”
Meanwhile, a new Indian restaurant called Rani Mahal will soon take over the Wellesley space.
Stay tuned for updates as Amarin of Thailand embarks on its next chapter, and be sure to check the eatery’s website for the latest news.
