Exciting news for Alexandria foodies hungry for superior Japanese food; Pak Soii Izakaya & Bar is one step closer to greeting customers. The restaurant has filed a special use permit regarding its opening in the old home of Zuki Moon, reports local media outlet Zebra.
While Pak Soii Izakaya signed the lease for the storefront at 1909 Mount Vernon Avenue in April of this year, the special use permit provides a more thorough vision of what the eatery has in store. The form filed with the City of Alexandria states that alterations to the space will be primarily cosmetic; while ownership is applying a fresh layer of paint and its own decor, the only change in equipment will be the addition of a water heater.
Described as “a full-service Japanese restaurant for all ages”, Pak Soii Izakaya will have seating for up to 38 customers and anticipates serving up to 120 visitors daily. The restaurant will be open from 11:30 am to 9 pm, Sunday through Thursday and from 11:30 am to 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Pak Soii Izakaya has applied for a liquor license with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, so future customers will be able to enjoy an adult beverage with their meal. As to what, precisely, that meal may look like, the special use permit offers this tasty peak: “In a cozy setting, this izakaya (casual Japanese restaurant serving small plates and drinks) will offer a variety of sushi/sashimi and rice bowls, along with skewers and small plates.”
