It’s an exciting week for DC area sleuths and foodies alike, as a celebrated area restauranter reveals the delicious solution to a culinary mystery. Steve Salis scooped up a Barracks Row storefront about a year ago and has now announced that the space will host Federalist Pig, a sophisticated barbecue restaurant, reports the Washington Business Journal.
The concept-which already has a location in Adams Morgan-will be taking over the space vacated by Cava Mezze at 527 Eighth Street SE. Locals shouldn’t assume that simply because they’ve dined at the Adams Morgan Federalist Pig that they know precisely what’s in store. Salis explains that the Barracks Row location will be forging its own path, saying: “We are going to be broadening the Fed Pig business to make it more of an upscale, culinary-forward roadhouse. We’ll be introducing some fish, steaks, chops, veggies, and we’ll be looking at broadening our salads and sides.”
There is still a bit of a wait between local foodies and upscale barbecue; construction has not yet begun on the space, and Catalogue-Salis’s hospitality group-is hoping to be open by Labor Day of next year.
In the meantime, future regulars can rest assured that the Catalogue team is bringing a great deal of enthusiasm and its signature commitment to quality to the project. Kristen Salis of Catalogue’s media relations team shared with What Now DC an expression of the group’s collective feelings about the new project, saying: “We are thrilled to share that Federalist Pig is expanding with a new location on Barracks Row. We’re excited to join our sister restaurant Ted’s Bulletin to further contribute to the vibrant community and bring our celebrated brand to this neighborhood.”
