Country Eggs, LLC Issues Egg Recall After Multiple Reports of Illness
A potential Salmonella contamination led Country Eggs, LLC, of Lucerne Valley, to issue an egg recall. The matter came to the attention of the FDA when several illness reports were made, leading to the recall. Distributed in California and Nevada, its Large Brown Cage Free Sunshine Yolks is the product in question.
The contamination involves Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for severe illness. In rare cases, it can also enter the bloodstream and lead to arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
