A concept inspired by ‘Friends’ is landing in New York City this fall. Central Perk Coffeehouse will open in Times Square at 20 Times Square in late fall 2025, bringing the fictional spot from the show to life for guests, according to a release.
Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, Central Perk Coffee Co. and CenPer Holdings, LLC, are teaming up for the venture.
“‘Friends’ is one of those rare shows that continues to bring people together, generation after generation,” Peter van Roden, EVP at Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, said in the release. “At the heart of that story was always Central Perk, the iconic coffeehouse and the group’s home base, set in Manhattan. It was a place where laughter, connection and unforgettable moments were shared…and it remains that today. After a warm welcome in Boston, we’re excited to bring Central Perk Coffeehouse to Times Square, a location that perfectly captures the energy, spirit and global love for FRIENDS, right in the city where it all began.”
The spot will offer a modern take on the classic beloved hangout. Top Chef and James Beard Award winner Tom Colicchio is heading up menu development for the brand, and New York architects Glen & Co. are leading with the design. Key elements will draw on aspects from the show, including an Orange Sofa room inspired by the famous Central Perk couch.
This will be the second location for the brand, joining a spot in Boston that debuted in 2023.
“When we launched the first Central Perk Coffeehouse in Boston, our goal was always to expand to New York City, a place where fans and friends alike could create their own stories in the city where the series was set,” Paul Landino, CenPer Holdings, LLC, company executive, said in the release. “Opening in Times Square, known as the crossroads of the world, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring that vision to life, offering creative coffee drinks and delicious food in a space that is both familiar and refreshingly modern.”
The Times Square location will offer a coffee and food menu. In addition, its six original coffee blends will be available for purchase. In addition, the new Central Perk Coffee location will offer exclusive merchandise for guests to purchase.
