According to a recently submitted permit application, the El Sobrante-based concept El Trompudo is landing in Berkeley later this year.
Coming to 2437 Dwight Way, the eatery will soon be neighbored by establishments such as Bongo Burger, the sandwich shop Mezzo, and Sliver Pizzeria.
What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s co-owner, Hector Montes, to learn more about his plans for the upcoming location; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the eatery’s website offers a brief introduction to the concept: “Established in 2015, El Trompudo is proudly owned and operated by the Galindo family, who have been in the restaurant industry for over 25 years. Located in El Sobrante, we specialize in authentic Jalisco-style Mexican cuisine, using traditional recipes and fresh ingredients.”
The menu offers breakfast items such as chorizo and eggs, huevo rancheros, and chilaquiles — and lunch options include California-style burritos topped with “slow-cooked and thinly sliced carne asada,” cheesy quesadillas, and burgers. To drink, patrons can also order a fresh horchata.
The restaurant currently operates one location at 3850 San Pablo Dam Road in El Sobrante. In addition to dine-in service, El Trompudo caters holiday celebrations, birthday parties, baby showers, graduation parties, sports events, weddings, and corporate events.
