Las Cazuelas Restaurant, a long-standing Mexican restaurant based in San Jose, is preparing to open a new location at 6039 Snell Avenue.
Owner Grace Armas has recently submitted a liquor license application for a new location, which will take over the former home of Casa Teresa, according to state records. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the South San Jose expansion will bring the restaurant’s extensive menu of traditional Mexican dishes to a new part of the city. Diners can expect indoor seating and a patio setting, along with a full bar and made-to-order favorites inspired by central Mexican cuisine. It’s unclear if this is a second location or a relocation.
Las Cazuelas was founded over 40 years ago and continues to serve the Silicon Valley community from its original location in the Rose Garden District. The restaurant is known for its deep roots in the regional cooking styles of Jalisco, Zacatecas, and Oaxaca. The name “Las Cazuelas” refers to the clay pots traditionally used in slow-cooked Mexican meals, which are central to the restaurant’s cooking style.
The menu spans breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with highlights such as enchiladas verdes, fajitas, tamales, seafood platters, and specialty tacos. Las Cazuelas also serves menudo, pozole, and caldo de siete mares, alongside a full lineup of burritos, tortas, and combination plates. Vegetarian and vegan burrito options are also available.
Beverage offerings include micheladas, margaritas, house-made aguas frescas, and sangria. Guests will also find a dessert menu featuring flan, churros, and arroz con leche. With a focus on homemade recipes and family-friendly service, the new location aims to carry forward the tradition that has made Las Cazuelas a local favorite.
