CVS Pharmacy has finalized its acquisition of select Rite Aid assets across the nation. The deal includes 63 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores located in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. It also includes the prescription records of 626 pharmacies across 15 states. CVS Pharmacy will now be able to reach nine million former customers of Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs.
CVS Pharmacy Completes Rite Aid Asset Acquisition
In May, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey approved the acquisition of select Rite Aid assets by CVS Pharmacy. The transaction was completed within four months. The process wrapped up on September 30 with the acquisition of stores located in Bend, OR, and Bainbridge Island, WA.
CVS prioritized convenience and continued access to prescriptions when selecting stores, with most locations situated within three miles of a former Rite Aid, and nearly half within just one mile.
CVS has added staff to better serve customers and meet growing demand. More than 3,500 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs employees have joined CVS Pharmacy.
CVS has also strengthened its existing stores by adding support staff to improve service for customers. The company has boosted recruitment and expanded training programs to better serve customers. These steps ensure that all teams are able to provide the best service to both new and existing customers.
“We’re excited to have completed the acquisition of select Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores in the Pacific Northwest, as well as the acquisition of prescription files of hundreds of Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs pharmacies across 15 states,” said Len Shankman, Executive Vice President and President, Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness, CVS Health.
“We’re helping maintain and expand access to convenient and trusted pharmacy care across the U.S. and growing our retail footprint and presence in local communities. From our innovative pharmacy care programs to our exclusive store brand products, we look forward to showing Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs patients and customers all that CVS has to offer,” Shankman added.
Future Plans for CVS Pharmacy
CVS Pharmacy continues to provide accessible health, wellness, and pharmacy services. It has a wide range of products, which include OTC medications, beauty items, and healthier food options. The company will also carry many familiar local brands from former Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs locations.
CVS will celebrate its newly converted stores in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington with Grand Opening Block Parties. The celebrations will be held throughout October, featuring DJs, food trucks, and giveaways.
These acquisitions expand CVS Pharmacy’s reach across the Pacific Northwest and 15 other states, giving millions of customers easier access to trusted pharmacy services.
