Bar Bokeh, a modern, specialty cocktail lounge, is preparing to open in Toronto’s Leslieville neighborhood at 890 Queen Street East.

The new venue will occupy the rear portion of the space shared with Matcha Haus, a popular matcha cafe, but will operate as a completely separate business under owner Annabel Ngo. An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the new concept is expected to open before the end of the year.

The cocktail lounge will take over the former home of Warren Cycle Works. While details remain under wraps, Bar Bokeh aims to offer a unique environment for guests, combining thoughtfully crafted cocktails with a modern, artistic setting. Matcha Haus owner tells What Now Toronto, “Stay tuned for more details about Bar Bokeh as they will be unveiling some exciting plans for their space a little later in the year.”

Bar Bokeh’s design concept is inspired by its namesake term, which describes the aesthetic blur of light and focus in photography. Guests can expect a carefully curated atmosphere that emphasizes mood, texture, and visual detail, providing a contemporary backdrop for cocktail experiences.

The lounge is intended to complement Leslieville’s evolving nightlife and dining scene while offering a distinct identity separate from its daytime neighbor. The lounge joins a growing number of small, concept-driven cocktail bars in Toronto that aim to blend artistry, mixology, and ambiance. By combining innovative drink offerings with attention to design and customer experience, Bar Bokeh seeks to become a destination for both locals and visitors seeking a modern, Asian-inspired night out.

The menu is expected to feature a range of handcrafted cocktails highlighting Asian flavors and ingredients, though full details will be released closer to opening. The lounge will also likely include options for group gatherings, private events, and curated tasting experiences.

Located in the heart of Leslieville, the space benefits from high visibility along Queen Street East, strong foot traffic, and proximity to residential and commercial developments. Bar Bokeh’s presence is expected to add to the neighborhood’s growing reputation as a hub for specialty dining and nightlife experiences.
