La Valle Gelateria, a family-run Italian gelato shop offering handmade gelato, panini, espresso, and pastries, is getting ready to open in Dundas at 26 King Street West.
The new gelateria is set to open in the former home of local butcher Cumbrae’s, which recently moved next door into a larger historic space at 24 King Street West, according to UrbanCity. The shop is expected to open in summer 2026, with co-owner Jennifer Myers telling What Now Toronto that the team is planning a soft opening on August 19 and 20. Customers can expect authentic Italian gelato alongside Italian-inspired baked goods, espresso drinks, and handmade panini.
La Valle Gelateria is locally owned and family-run, with a focus on bringing traditional Italian gelato to downtown Dundas. Myers trained in Bologna, Italy, where she developed her gelato-making skills using traditional techniques and ingredients.
The new shop will add another food and beverage option to King Street West, joining the area’s mix of independent businesses and restaurants. Located in the heart of downtown Dundas near the Niagara Escarpment, La Valle Gelateria will operate from a space that has recently undergone a transition following Cumbrae’s relocation.
The menu will focus on gelato made with quality, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients, with flavors inspired by Italian traditions. In addition to gelato, customers will find pastries, espresso, and panini, creating options for both quick visits and longer stops throughout the day.
The owners of La Valle Gelateria are fourth-generation Dundas residents who have deep roots in the community. When the new Italian-inspired concept opens, it will operate daily, with planned hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
