Owners of the pizza spot known for thick pies with many toppings are hoping to come back to the community soon.

From their social media, Original Dream Pizza at 4620 NE Glisan had to pause operations following a fire on the roof. While pausing operations, the team will be looking at ways to improve the restaurant. Co-owner Amy Northrop told What Now Portland she and her husband, Dan Northrop, are hoping to reopen by next month.

“On Sunday, October 26, our building had a mechanical fire related to a rooftop HVAC Unit. Thanks to a quick response by the Portland Fire Bureau, the fire was contained to the roof,” says the description on their website.

“However, the interior suffered a significant amount of smoke damage that must be mitigated before we can reopen. We hope to see you again soon!”

The pizza shop has not been in the area very long, as it opened in April of this year. It replaced the old American Dream Pizza at the corner of NE Glisan Street and NE 47th Avenue. Next to the business is Big’s Chicken, and a Starbucks is one corner over.

Original Dream Pizza sells mini, medium and large pies, as well as slices, calzones, salads, soups and baked potatoes. Amy said they are waiting on insurance approval for HVAC repairs. As fans of the spot eagerly await its opening, more updates will be provided on their Facebook page.
