The Local Tavern is now open for business in the Briar Vista Shopping Center. The new neighborhood eatery from the team behind Local on North in downtown Duluth opened its doors to the public on Monday, Nov. 17, at 2149 Briarcliff Road NE at the corner of Briarcliff and LaVista Roads. To celebrate the opening, the restaurant will offer 25% off food on Dec. 3.

“We’re thrilled to introduce The Local Tavern in one of the best neighborhoods in Atlanta,” says owner Kamal Preet in a statement. “Our take on the classic neighborhood hangout expands on the lively atmosphere of Local on North while retaining a character and feel all its own. We can’t wait for our new neighbors to enjoy our spacious dining room, laid-back bar and lounge area, and outdoor patio. We look forward to becoming your new favorite spot.”

The new restaurant and bar features a spacious dining room with dark woods and muted lighting, as well as a relaxed bar and lounge area and an inviting outdoor patio. The menu offers a crowd-pleasing variety of American and Italian favorites, from salads to steak frites and sandwiches, pork chops, and seafood offerings like branzino, grilled salmon, and mahi mahi.

Standout menu items include:

  • Goat cheese croquette: A ball of whipped goat cheese seasoned with black pepper and fresh herbs, panko breaded and fried, and served with a lemon vinaigrette and tomato jam on toas
  • Chicken Française: Lemon chicken with an egg dredge, fried and cooked to order with a lemon and chicken stock and caper sauce, served over mashed potatoes with grilled broccoli
  • Sea bass: Sautéed sea bass filet served with baby bok choy, Parmesan grits and chimichurri
  • Filet medallions: Two 4-ounce medallions on Parmesan risotto with sautéed spinach and mushrooms, plus a red wine reduction

The bar showcases a curated selection of red and white wines, bourbons, beers, hard apple cider, and handcrafted cocktails, including the Cosmopolitan (Stateside Vodka, triple sec, cranberry, and lime) and the Smoked Old Fashioned (Elijah Craig small batch bourbon, Angostura bitters, demerara syrup, and hickory smoke).

Overseen by general manager Mike Hartshorn, The Local Tavern is currently open for lunch and dinner, with plans to include Sunday brunch in the near future.

The Local Tavern is located at 2149 Briarcliff Road NE, Atlanta, 30329. For more information, please call 404-968-9865 or visit localtavernatl.com.
