What started as an idea during a family trip to Venice, Italy, 15 years ago is now becoming reality: a mother-son duo is opening their first brick-and-mortar restaurant.
Luther’s Market, run by Kiki and Hudson Luthringshausen, is set to open at 227 Rutledge Ave., taking over the former Pinot and Provisions space, according to an Instagram post.
“YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT! We are opening our first market on the peninsula. Inside you’ll find our scratch made global comfort foods and us (Kiki & Hudson) working in our noodle corner of the shop,” the post read.
The duo launched MamaKeeks Hospitality in 2022 with plans to one day open a storefront. While scouting the perfect location, they took their creations on the road with a food truck and catered private events.
Luther’s current menu highlights include the “Korean Chicken Bowl” with chicken thigh, cucumbers, roasted carrots, pickled shallots, chickpeas and jasmine rice; “Thai Basil Pork” with ground pork, Thai basil, green beans, smashed cucumbers and jasmine rice; and “Mac N Bougie” with homemade radiatori and aged Parmesan.
They also offer homemade pasta like campanelle, casarrece and spaghetti, served with sauces such as Bolognese, pesto and Thai peanut.
“After years, tastes and travels–We’re ready to build a place like home where you can find our global comfort foods,” the post continued. “We thank our brokers, the support from Charleston’s food community and the many people (both from around town and beyond) who found our food truck this past year.”
Luther’s Market opens January 15, and the food truck will keep serving in the meantime. Follow the eatery’s updates on its website, Instagram and Facebook.
