A new pizzeria from a familiar family is headed to Sacramento.
John and Chiara Adamo, the father-and-daughter duo behind Adamo’s Kitchen in Midtown, are preparing to open Dodici Pizzeria at 400 12th St in the city’s Alkali Flats neighborhood. The news was recently announced via social media, quickly sparking excitement among fans of the family’s soulful Italian cooking.
“Get ready to indulge in Dodici, the freshest Pizzeria in town, brought to you by the team behind @adamoskitchen,” the family shared on Instagram. “Experience traditional Italian flavors with recipes passed on from a true pizzaolo; Italy in every bite 🇮🇹.”
Though new to the public, Dodici has been years in the making. The passion project dates back to 2021, when the family began building out the space—a unit in a building they own—while sourcing high-end equipment, including a coveted Cuppone Italian pizza oven.
Near the end of renovations, plans were put on pause as the Adamo family expanded, and the finished space was leased to Anonimo Pizza and later Luccas Pizzeria. After Luccas relocated in the fall of 2025, the timing finally aligned to bring Dodici to life, coinciding with the launch of a second Adamo’s Kitchen in Mitchell, South Dakota.
The name Dodici—Italian for twelve—is a nod to the restaurant’s prime location at the corner of 12th and D Streets. The logo, created in collaboration with creative director Jonah Artru, cleverly embeds the number 12 within the letter D.
The menu will spotlight authentic Apulian-style pizza, a rustic, softer, and more flavorful alternative to the pillowy Neapolitan style. The dough is crafted from a blend of Type 0 and unrefined Type 1 flours, then left to mature for 48 hours before being hand-stretched and baked at high temperatures—an approach that reflects the Adamo family’s second-generation Southern Italian heritage.
“My family is second-generation Italian, with both of my grandparents having emigrated from Southern Italy in the 1930s,” Chiara explained in a press release. “Two things Italians know well, pasta and pizza! For years, we’ve received questions at Adamo’s: ‘Why no pizza on the menu?’ Now we can respond, ‘Head over to Dodici Pizzeria and give it a try!'”
The team is currently fine-tuning the menu and completing an interior refresh, with plans to welcome guests in February 2026. For opening updates, menu previews, and behind-the-scenes peeks, follow the eatery on Facebook and Instagram.
