Layne’s Chicken Fingers, the chicken chain “Born & Breaded in Texas,” was founded in College Station in 1994, and it has shown considerable growth in the years since. As the brand expands in states like Utah, Wisconsin, and Georgia, Layne’s Chicken Fingers continues to have its strongest presence in its home state.
And Layne’s is continuing to expand in Texas. This week, What Now came across a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation showing a new Layne’s Chicken Fingers opening at 701 W 24th Street in Austin.
My San Antonio reported on this filing earlier this week, noting that the location in question is situated about a block away from the University of Texas at Austin.
“That’s right,” My San Antonio says. “UT Austin will soon have a new chicken spot to dine at…”
The coverage also notes that the brand announced last year that it will be opening more than 12 restaurants in the Austin market over the course of the next nine years—so expect to see a lot more!
The Layne’s Chicken Fingers menu is based around meals served with three, four, or five chicken fingers, which come with crinkle-cut fries, Texas Toast, a 22 oz. drink, and Layne’s Sauce. There’s also a Club Sandwich, a Chicken Sandwich, and a classic Grilled Cheese.
“Our original location in College Station is still open, and our goal is to bring the same small-town charm, friendly service and iconic chicken fingers & secret sauce to the rest of the world…and beyond,” reads the Layne’s Chicken Fingers website About page.
What Now reached out on Friday to Shahroz Khan, the franchisee behind the location, to ask about the opening. Khan was not immediately available for comment.
