Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, the sushi bar with a “choose your own food adventure” theme, is coming to Wellington.

The restaurant announced the imminent opening on its website, with an address listed as 1349 South State Road 7. The Square at Lotis Wellington noted that Kura would be opening in early 2026, according to its Instagram page. Lotis Wellington is a mixed-use development in the tony village.

The second largest sushi chain in Japan, Kura has taken the U.S. by storm for its colorful plates of sushi, gyoza, and edamame that pass through the restaurant on conveyor belts, allowing diners to choose what they want to eat, when they want it. Other items are delivered by robots and friendly staff, with diners returning for the fun atmosphere as much as for the food quality.

The food is made with high-quality ingredients — many of which are flown in from Japan. The restaurant issues a promise on its website that, “Kura Sushi’s dishes adhere to the Japanese virtue of serving natural and healthy meals prepared with fresh, premium ingredients”. Its wasabi, for instance, is, “free of preservatives, colorings and amino acids, and is uniquely grated to leave a natural rough and gritty texture”, and the broth used in its udon, miso, and ramen is made daily.
