McDonald’s is bringing back one of the most beloved Happy Meal toy lines in the brand’s history: Changeables. The classic transforming toys, first introduced in the late 1980s, will return to Happy Meals next week, sparking buzz across social media.
Nostalgic Changeables Happy Meal Coming Back at McDonald’s
For decades, McDonald’s Happy Meal has been a staple for families, collectors, and longtime fans. Be it to have a fulfilling meal, a mood-lifting snack, or to collect exciting toys, customers always leave elated from McDonald’s.
McDonald’s first introduced Changeables as part of its Happy Meal toy lineup in 1987, before bringing them back again in 1989 and 1990. The toys were modeled after everyday McDonald’s menu items, such as burgers, fries, and drink cups, transforming them into robots, dinosaurs, and monsters.
The designs quickly became popular with children and adult collectors alike. Over the years, Changeables became a nostalgic fan favorite.
Now, the nostalgic toy line is making a limited-time return. The Changeables will be available beginning January 27, 2026, at the participating McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. on a limited-time basis.
McDonald’s confirmed the return through posts on its official social media, including Instagram and on X, by Guillaume Huin, Senior Marketing Director of McDonald’s, who displayed the new designs and stated that Changeables was one of the most requested Happy Meal programs ever by fans.
