With two locations apiece in Los Angeles and New York, The Butcher’s Daughter is a beloved, star-studded vegetarian cafe concept.

“This place is more than a cafe, it’s a lifestyle,” said Lena Dunham about the growing brand. And growing it is: for its fifth location, The Butcher’s Daughter is headed to Austin.

“South Congress lovers, get ready!” said a post published by Austin realtor Stefan Benteler last year. “The Butcher’s Daughter, the beloved vegetarian café and juice bar with locations in Venice, West Hollywood, and New York City, is bringing its plant-based magic to Austin’s iconic SoCo. Set to open at 1600 S. Congress Blvd, the new spot will occupy the space previously home to Trudy’s Del Mar and South Congress Café.”

The daytime menu at the Venice, LA location opens with an All Day Breakfast selection that includes Warm Buttermilk Biscuits with fruit preserves and vegan butter, an Acai Bowl, OG Avocado Toast, and the Butcher’s Breakfast (two organic eggs, avocado, mushrooms, charred kale, roasted tomatoes, potatoes, olives, whipped green tahini, and sourdough).

There are also Stone Oven Pizzas like the Zucchini & Pesto (pepita pesto, cashew ricotta, zucchini, herbs, charred lemon) and the Hot Honey & Beet “Pepperoni” (marinara, mozzarella, house beet “pepperoni,” hot honey, fresh oregano), along with Sandwiches like the Spicy BBQ Sandwich (crispy yuba, cabbage-tomato slaw, aji panca, and ceviche aioli) and an Impossible Burger.

“The traditional meat butcher — and his time-worn butcher shop — are becoming relics of the past,” says the Butcher’s Daughter website. “But his rebellious daughter is paving a new way… and she’s really excited about vegetables. At The Butcher’s Daughter, we aim to improve wellness by improving lifestyle – but more importantly, have fun doing it!”

Opening in the South Congress Avenue location, The Butcher’s Daughter will join a food and drink community that includes restaurants like Maie Day, Otoko, Vespaio Restaurant, Chapulin Cantina, and more.
