Halibut House Fish & Chips, a Canadian seafood restaurant chain specializing in fish and chips, is getting ready to open a new location in Woodstock at 575 Norwich Avenue.

The company’s newest location is scheduled to open on January 29, according to the company’s website. Halibut House is also planning a future location in Sudbury at 2135 Long Lake Road, though an opening date for that site has not yet been announced. The Woodstock restaurant will join the brand’s growing footprint across Ontario, adding to its presence in Southwestern Ontario. Customers can expect the chain’s core menu of battered and grilled seafood, fresh-cut fries, and classic sides.

Halibut House Fish & Chips was founded in Port Perry, Ontario, in 2004. The company has steadily expanded over the past two decades and now operates more than 40 locations across Ontario. Its restaurants can be found in a mix of urban centers and smaller communities, including Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, London, and Barrie. The upcoming Woodstock opening will further strengthen its coverage in mid-sized Ontario markets.

The Sudbury location marks continued expansion into Northern Ontario, building on existing restaurants in communities such as Huntsville and Sarnia. While details on the Sudbury buildout remain limited, the location on Long Lake Road places the restaurant within a busy commercial corridor.

The menu at Halibut House centers on fish and chips, with options including halibut, cod, haddock, and hake, served battered or grilled. Customers can pair their fish with fresh-cut fries, salads, vegetables, poutine, or other sides. Additional offerings include shrimp, scallops, seafood platters, burgers, chicken items, and kid-friendly meals, along with desserts and alcoholic beverages.

Halibut House emphasizes the use of wild, sustainably caught fish and Ontario-sourced potatoes for its fries. The company positions itself as a family-run business, with each location operated by members of the local community. The upcoming Woodstock and Sudbury restaurants reflect the brand’s continued focus on steady, Ontario-based growth.
