General Grant’s Hot Dogs is cooking up a food truck that’s set to bring a whole lot of East Coast flavor to the Valley.

“I’m coming with a lot of flavor,” General Grant’s Hot Dogs co-owner Shawn Jackson said in an exciting interview with What Now Las Vegas. Jackson confirmed that the eatery would be opening in the Valley this season, but said that it will not be a shop at 439 N Rock Quarry Way, as listed on the permit. But General Grant’s Hot Dogs will instead start as a food truck set to roam the streets of Northeast Las Vegas

“I wanted to open a restaurant, but I just couldn’t find any spaces, and I wanted to get started fast,” Jackson said.

Shawn is embarking on this culinary venture with his wife, Abby, and son, Grant, after whom the brand is named.

“We’re super excited to get started,” Abby said.

The Philadelphia couple shared that the new opening is their way of bringing a little bit of back home on the East Coast to their new home on the West Coast.

“Moving out here, we miss the food from back East. The food out here is nothing like what you can get back East. In New York City, there’s a hot dog cart on every corner. So, it’s one of those things where you kind of miss what you had, so you want to bring it to the area,” Abby said.

“Our main thing is going to be hot dogs. But, we’re a little different than a lot of other companies, especially ones out here on the West Coast.”

But, not just any old hot dogs and not the gourmet ones people have become accustomed to on this side of the country.

“We’re not into the gourmet hot dogs. We’re selling your basic every day hotdogs, like a chilli cheese dog, sauerkraut, and mustard hot dogs,” Abby shared.

The hot dogs are simple but classic. General Grant’s Hot Dogs also plans to offer hand-cut fresh fries.

“That’s kind of our thing. Back to the basics.”

A city permit for General Grant’s Hot Dogs LLC has the new establishment listed at 439 N Rock Quarry Way. The Jacksons said the address is the commissary they’re using to get things going. The plan is to have General Grant’s Hot Dogs out in the Northeast: North 5th and the 215, Losee and the 215, possibly down to Decatur.

“We have to travel to Summerlin for all of the good restaurants,” Abby said.

“So, it’s one of those things where you want to bring it to where the people don’t have anything like it.”

Keep your eyes open for the latest on this one, folks. General Grant’s Hot Dogs appears to be cooking up the right recipe for success.

“It’s something we’re pretty passionate about, and we’re hoping to, once we get our first truck going, expand with a second truck within the first six to eight months,” Abby said.

Once they have two to three General Grant’s Hot Dogs trucks running, the Jacksons said they plan to open a brick-and-mortar location.

For now, keep your eyes on the General Grant’s Hot Dogs Instagram page for where and when you can find them.
