Kennedy’s Tavern is set to open in a Texas historic landmark this Spring. The new New Braunfels Irish Pub is expected to open at 308 E. San Antonio St., according to MYSA.
What Now San Antonio briefly spoke with co-owner Kyle Kennedy, who confirmed the opening. Construction on the building that once housed an 1800s family is currently underway to turn the space into a rocking nightlife destination.
Kennedy’s Tavern will have a live music stage, an outside hangout called The Tree Bar, fire pits, and covered seating. Customers can expect a food truck serving Irish food and local favorites, and a 25-person speakasy called the Emerald Lounge. Kennedy’s Tavern will be serving Fredericksburg wines, beer from area German brewers, Guinness beers, and specialty crafted drinks.
“At Kennedy’s Tavern, we bring the charm of a traditional Irish pub to New Braunfels, complete with hearty Irish fare, a welcoming atmosphere, and a perfect pint,” the Kennedy’s Tavern website reads.
“At the same time, we proudly celebrate the rich German heritage of our community — offering a gathering place where Irish spirit and German tradition come together.”
Kyle Kennedy is expected to run Kennedy’s Tavern with co-owner Lalita Kennedy and managing partner Joseph Collins, who ran both the Pour Haus and Downtown Social for years.
Kennedy’s Tavern will open in the Voight House in good company. Muck & Fuss and Lost & Found can be found not too far from the historic home on East San Antonio Street.
The soon-to-open Irish pub will be open Sunday to Friday, Noon to Midnight, and Saturdays, Noon to 1 AM, according to its website.
