Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen is making a splash in the Alamo City with plans to debut and expand in the region. According to a recently filed permit, the new seafood spot is set to open in The Great Northwest Retail Property at 7531 Bandera Road, Suite 101.
Construction on the property is expected to start this April and wrap up by the beginning of July 2026. If all goes well, San Antonio residents and visitors can rejoice in Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen’s summer opening.
Dave Peters of BDR Enterprises is listed as the tenant on the permit and is one of the franchisees opening one of the first Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen eateries in the Greater San Antonio region. What Now San Antonio reached out to Peters, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
The brand was founded as “Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers” in Donelson, Tennessee, back in 1969. The seafood chain rebranded as Captain D’s in 1974, solely focusing on seafood. In response, Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen grew rapidly throughout the Southeast. Today, there are more than 500 Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen locations. There are at least ten locations in Texas, but with most of them in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, it was finally time for one to be built in San Antonio.
“At Captain D’s, we believe that everyone should enjoy delicious, affordable seafood meals,” the Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen website reads.
The restaurant’s fast-casual, “wharf-style” dining experience includes a host of crunchy seafood options, like the half-dozen fried oysters and the ultimate seafood platter with crispy, crunchy shrimp, grilled meals, family meals, combos, and desserts.
Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen is set to debut in the Greater San Antonio area in The Great Northwest Retail Property at 7531 Bandera Road, Suite 101, by this summer.
