Former Latta Arcade salad spot Crisp is on the cusp of revival. It will open at 132 Brevard Court, bringing a new twist to the brand. The space was formerly home to Young and Tate.

Operating partner Matt Marenna told What Now Charlotte that his group acquired Crisp in 2024 when former owner Jerry McCarthy was looking to retire from the brand.

“It was a valuable brand,” Marenna said. “It had a lot of loyal followers, and we thought that it would still continue to work well in the courtyard.”

When Crisp Kitchen & Cocktails opens in the approximately 2,100-square-foot space in Brevard Court, it will offer the usual healthy, clean menu featuring salads, wraps and soups for lunch. However, it will expand the menu for dinner, offering protein-driven entrees derived from the salad and wrap options, including vegan and vegetarian options. The menu will remain straightforward, offering shareable plates as well as six signature cocktails. Expect to see Mediterranean and Asian flavors throughout the menu.

The first floor will house the bar, while the second level will house the main dining room and a service bar. There will be local artwork on the walls, a wine wall and a Japanese highball machine. Marenna said they are aiming to create an upbeat, bright environment.

“We have a lot of plant life going in, just to give it that bright, crisp feel,” Marenna said. “We want the energy to feel like you’re pulling a little bit of the outside in with you.”

The forthcoming opening will be the culmination of a two-year process of preparing the brand for its return. Now, they are in the process of final inspections and hope to fully open by the end of March. Marenna sees Crisp as a key part of the concepts taking shape in Brevard Court, including Spurs Up, Tiny Bar and Sonrisa.

“We’re trying to add different feels in all of our places. Crisp is that nicer option. It’s better for couples or groups of friends looking for some mostly guilt-free bites and great cocktails,” Marenna said. “Every space has something that pulls itself a little bit differently so that your whole night can be spent in the area. You don’t have to be bouncing around different parts of the city. It’s all self-contained. Once these places are all open and we’re just working on operations, I really want to make the courtyard as a whole a destination.”
