Offering “flavorful fare, freshly prepared” at 205 Fawcett Street, Pocket’s Grill has had a long life in Smithville. Opened on September 16, 1996 (in a previous location), it has “the strict objectives of delivering the highest quality service and the best tasting food in a clean casual environment.

And now that environment is getting a big upgrade!

Community Impact reported this week on a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing that shows Pocket’s Grill getting a $400,000 renovation that will take about a year to complete. The coverage lists the following additions:

  • Building a new bar
  • Adding indoor and outdoor seating
  • Installing a walk-in cooler for keg storage
  • Installing a walk-in cooler for the kitchen
  • Relocating the existing playground

What Now reached out on Thursday to owner Troy Streuer to ask about plans for the renovations. Streuer was not immediately available for comment. However, another representative of the restaurant told What Now that, while the renovations will take a year, the restaurant will only have to close for a shorter period.

“At Pocket’s Grille, we take pride in serving up fresh, flavorful dishes for every appetite. From juicy smash burgers and hand-tossed pizzas to crisp salads and hearty sandwiches, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And if you can’t find something you love on our menu—well, you just aren’t that hungry!” the Pocket’s website. “Quality is at the heart of everything we make. Our burgers are never frozen, our hot dogs are 100% all-beef, and our salads are packed with the freshest ingredients. We even make our pizza dough from scratch every day, hand-forming each crust to order.”

The timeline for closing, construction, and reopening has not yet been revealed.
