Supreme Dumplings is continuing its Washington-area growth with a new location set to open this summer at Seattle’s Northgate Station.
The restaurant currently has locations in Bellevue, Kirkland and South Lake Union, with three more coming in Redmond, Tacoma and Alderwood. The new Northgate Station location will join the growing list.
Supreme Dumplings also has two locations outside Washington, in Katy, Texas, and San Francisco.
The new location will feature a design unlike previous outposts, with an ice hockey theme, an oversized bar with large TVs for live sports and a year-round all-season patio.
“When we were first brainstorming the concept for Northgate, we discovered that the Seattle Kraken–the ice hockey team–had a practice facility nearby. We felt this was a great opportunity for our brand to build an emotional connection with the local community,” designer Joseph Hsu told What Now Seattle.
To enhance the hockey theme, the main entrance features handles made from hockey puck material. Inside, pucks and sticks are used to create decorative lettering, and even the restrooms showcase a hockey design.
“On a high wall next to the bar, we featured the shop’s mascot—the lion, our logo. We curated various lion motifs from different Chinese dynasties to create a parallel with the concept of a team mascot. To add a touch of humor and strengthen the community bond, the lion near the bar is depicted with a hockey stick in its mouth,” Hu said.
CEO Brandon Ting told What Now Seattle he’s excited to meet customers and host them at the upcoming locations.
“Our vision for our restaurant is that we like to proudly deliver moments of joy to our customers, our team members and the communities we serve,” Ting said. “We believe a restaurant is where people build relationships and we just want to be there for our customers.”
Ting said what sets Supreme Dumplings apart from competitors is its commitment to quality, attentive service and offering great food at an affordable price.
The restaurant specializes in Xiao Long Bao, which means “little dumplings in a basket.” According to the company’s website, this traditional style of steamed dumplings, cooked in bamboo baskets, dates back more than a thousand years to China’s Song Dynasty and has been refined over time by different regions in China.
The menu includes several varieties of Xiao Long Bao—pork, pork and shrimp, Szechuan spice, crab and pork, black truffle and chicken, and chicken and steamed vegetable. Other items include pan-fried buns, appetizers, fried rice, noodles, soup, and green and spicy wontons.
