H&H Bagels is undergoing a major expansion with plans to open its first Texas location this year. According to a recently filed permit, H&H Bagels is set to debut in Houston at River Oaks Village, located at 2880 Westheimer Road.
Construction on the new H&H Bagels is slated to start in May and is expected to wrap up before the end of August this year.
At the helm of the new Houston area bagel shop is franchisee Noman Khan. What Now Houston attempted to reach out to Khan, but did not hear back by the time of this publication. What Now Houston also reached out to the brand’s Ryan Klepper to find out more details about the ongoing expansion, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“H&H Bagels has been a New York City institution since 1972. Our original recipe and traditional water bagel method has become synonymous with “the New York bagel,” earning cameos in Seinfeld, Sex and the City, The Office, and many more,” the H&H Bagels website reads.
“H&H is dedicated to using only the highest quality ingredients, starting with our unbromated and unbleached best-in-class flour. Our bagels are all-natural and non-GMO, with no artificial preservatives. Each bagel is packed with 13 grams of protein.”
Founded in 1972 on New York City’s Upper West Side, H&H Bagels was brought to life by Helmer Toro and Hector Hernandez.
Despite numerous ownership changes, bankruptcies, and a 2011 shutdown, the brand was revived in 2014, expanding with new NYC locations and national franchising.
“After 50 years of this dedication in New York City, H&H is expanding nationwide!” the website reads.
“We recently opened in Miami, West Palm Beach, Santa Monica, DC, Chapel Hill, Knoxville, and Tampa, with openings on the way in Echo Park, Mandarin, Chicago, and more! Our dough remains kettle-boiled in New York City water, then baked locally on-site all day, every day.”
H&H Bagels currently operates seven key locations in the New York City area. This first Texas opening is part of a major expansion plan that includes more than 70 franchise locations in the pipeline across the United States.
While it may be all about the bagels at H&H Bagels, the brand has an extensive menu that has continued to withstand the test of time.
“Our passion for using ingredients with integrity extends throughout our menu, including fresh cracked eggs griddled for every sandwich, whole avocados hand-sliced to order, and freshly ground small batch coffee. No microwaves. No shortcuts. Nothing but the best for our families and yours,” the website reads.
H&H Bagels is set to debut in Houston in the River Oaks Village at 2880 Westheimer Road by this summer.
