Tifa Chocolate & Gelato brings you a one-of-a-kind dessert café experience. Enjoy handcrafted gelato made fresh daily with flavors ranging from classic vanilla bean to adventurous strawberry balsamic and refreshing fruit sorbet. The organic chocolate shop is now embarking on opening its next Greater Houston region location. According to a recently filed permit, Tifa Chocolate & Gelato is anticipated to open in Greenside at 1085 Gessner Rd. Ste 203.

Construction is slated to start in April and wrap up in June 2026.

Sanaa Atkins is a longtime franchisee of the brand who shared her excitement about opening the next shop to come to the Greater Houston area.

“We’re a dessert cafe,” Atkins said to What Now Houston in a phone interview.

“We brew our coffees, organic from San Francisco, and our chocolate is from around the world.”

Founded in 2007, the family-run brand started out as an online chocolate retailer before opening its first shop in Agoura Hills, California.

“Our story is steeped in family, with our daughter, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained head pastry chef, shaping the future of our desserts alongside all the members of our family,” the Tifa Chocholate & Gelato website reads.

“It was the family’s passion for food and community that transformed Tifa from a modest beginning with a mall cart into a beloved local gathering place. Here, relationships are forged over shared desserts, and every flavor is an invitation to create memorable moments.”

Tifa Chocolate & Gelato operates several franchise locations, primarily in California, with a presence in Arizona, Texas, and North Carolina. The company is actively expanding, with new locations planned for Colorado, Florida, and New York. What Now Houston spoke with Tifa Chef and Co-owner, Candace Orr, about the upcoming Houston opening.

“We’re super excited to see it, and this is kind of a community hub, and I think it goes so well for greater Texas, especially the Greater Houston area,” Orr said.

“We want people to come, stay a while, and I then I think it just really lends itself to the type of community in Houston.”

Orr runs recipe development for the family business. Orr shared that the brand recently launched a matcha series, which is emblematic of the recipe process.

The extensive Tifa Chocolate & Gelato menu includes a variety of chocolate options, coffeedessertsgelato, and more.
