Moxies, the upscale dining chain, is eyeing a prime Coral Gables location for a massive new restaurant.

The Canadian-born restaurant has filed plans with the City Beautiful for the demolition of the former Navarro Discount Pharmacy building at 87 Coral Way, followed by the construction of an 18,787 square foot two-story restaurant with a cost of about $6 million. Del Boca Coral Gables LP, is the project developer, which is owned by Moxie’s U.S. partner, Eatz Hospitality, Inc.

According to the South Florida Business Journal, this would be the first ground-up build in the U.S. for Moxies, with the completed project taking about six months for permitting and an additional 15 months for construction for a late 2027 completion date.

Once completed, the Coral Gables Moxies will offer two floors of dining areas, including a bar, multiple dining roons, and outdoor patio seating.

The news comes just as Moxies is about to open a West Palm Beach restaurant later in the month. The chain already owns and operates locations in Fort Lauderdale and in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. A sister restaurant, Chop Steakhouse & Bar, is located in Coconut Grove.

Moxies is popular for its globally-inspired scratch menu featuring items such as baby back ribs and chopotle mango chicken. The restaurant also offers a dedicated menu for vegetarians and vegans and hosts a happy hour with curated cocktails.
