A new restaurant is bringing Southern cuisine and soul food to Middleburg just in time for summer. Created by Nikki Lawson, Sistas Place will open at 2475 Blanding Blvd, Unit 6, in late May.
“We’re going to be doing Southern cuisine: fried chicken, catfish, Mac & Cheese, collard greens,” Lawson told What Now on Thursday.
One likely favorite from Sistas Place’s menu will be its Soul Food Potatoes: Idaho potatoes served with a choice of protein, along with sides like Mac & Cheese, candied yams, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and more.
“It’s going to be a great place for brunch on Friday and Saturday, too,” Lawson added. “We’ll be doing Chicken & Waffles, loaded omelets, mimosas—with a DJ on Friday and Saturday.”
Originally from Alabama, Lawson says soul food is something the area has been missing for a while.
“It’s going to be great for Middleburg, where we don’t have any soul food places. Normally, you have to drive 30 minutes into Jacksonville.”
With a seating capacity of about 75, Sistas Place will also serve as an event space for birthday parties, baby and bridal showers, and other celebrations.
“I hope people will come out and support us,” Lawson says. “You won’t be disappointed.”
