True Anomaly Brewing Company, a science-inspired brewery in Houston, has built a following for its space-themed beers and taproom experience. Located at 2012 Dallas Street, the brewery is planning to close its doors permanently.

In a social media post, the team said the final day of service is April 30. Due to the I-45 expansion and delays in opening a second location, the taproom is closing down.

Award-Winning True Anomaly Brewing Announces Closure

Founded in 2019 by four former NASA employees, True Anomaly Brewing became known for its science-inspired beers and space-themed taproom in East Downtown.

Popular year-round beer options include Scout (Mexican-style lager), Small Giant (grisette saison), and Rocket Park (pale ale). It also rotates seasonal and limited releases, many with space-inspired themes.

The brewery was named Brewery of the Year at the Texas Craft Brewers Cup in both 2023 and 2024. In 2025, it also won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup for its “Flanders Redux” beer.

The brewery has shared an announcement and mentioned, “After an unforgettable run in East Downtown, the taproom will be closing its doors. Our final day will be April 30.”

In an emotional message, the team mentioned that the brewery was designed as a space for the community to gather and celebrate.

“Over the years, this taproom became exactly that. A meeting place for neighbors, artists, astronauts, dog lovers, first dates, birthday parties, and countless late nights that somehow turned into unforgettable memories,” the team added.

I-45 Project and Delays Lead to Closure

The True Anomaly team cited major changes in the surrounding neighborhood as a significant reason for the decision to close.

“Over the past year, we found ourselves caught in the path of the I-45 expansion while also working to open a second location nearby. Construction delays and shifting timelines pushed that project further and further out,” the team said. “We kept brewing and kept believing it would come together, but eventually the stars just stopped aligning.”

Before closing, True Anomaly will host a final community event. On April 26, the taproom will host a ‘Celebration of Life’ event ahead of its final week. The team has invited people to stop by, “share a beer, tell a story, and help us celebrate everything this place has meant to so many people.”

As True Anomaly Brewing winds down, it will leave a mark on the community through its innovative space-themed design, experimental nature, and dedication.
