Popular empanadas and Latin soups are moving to another location this year.
The Latin American cuisine spot El Pegao is going through a change as the restaurant is relocating to a new storefront on Broadway in Lorain. This follows their flagship location opening in mid-November at 763 Broadway. The address has not been announced as the team is still in the process of moving.
“After careful consideration, we have secured a larger location and will soon be offering full sit-down dine-in services,” says the recent post.
Co-owner of El Pegao, Ruby Fridell, has been involved with the Lorain community through events like Pink & Purple On Purpose, raising awareness for survivors of cancer and domestic violence. Per an article from The Chronicle-Telegram, Fridell moved from Florida to Northeast Ohio, and she brings years of cooking experience.
The downtown Lorain restaurant offers breakfast and lunch menus with options ranging from french toast to Cuban sandwiches. Daily soups are served like sancocho stew, as well as a la carte items like potato salad and fries. The restaurant is mainly take-out, with limited seating inside.
The current El Pegao sits at the corner of Broadway and E 8th Street. This is close to Lorenzo’s Pizzeria and Scorcher’s Casual Eatery & Draft House. The address is on the south side of downtown Lorain and near the Black River.
More information on El Pegao and the new location can be found on their Facebook page.
