The culinary visionary behind Karravaan is getting ready to launch DC’s next great dining adventure. Sanjay Mandhaiya is bringing The Grace-described as “a neighborhood tavern”-to Shaw later this year, reports popular Twitter feed @eat_dc.

The restaurant will be setting up shop at 1539 7th Street NW, in the space previously occupied by The Passenger. The Grace is set to open its doors and begin serving customers in early summer.

There is not currently a great deal of information available about The Grace beyond its impressive pedigree. Mandhaiya has proven a culinary visionary. Karravaan earned wide acclaim and recognition from no less than the Michelin Guide through its innovative approach to cuisine. The restaurant provided a glimpse of a long history and a rich culture through its meticulously crafted dishes. Pappe, another Mandhaiya original, is similarly beloved for its authentic Indian fare.

While these two restaurants do not necessarily reflect the type of dining future customers can expect from The Grace, they do show that under Mandhaiya’s guidance, the concept is bound to be a high-quality labor of love.

What Now DC has reached out to The Grace’s team and will update readers as further information comes to light.
