A lauded DC comfort food institution is getting ready to plant its flag in a new neighborhood. Chef Geoff’s will be opening its third District location in Mount Vernon Triangle in the not-too-distant future, reports Washington Business Journal.
Chef Geoff’s-led by the celebrated and titular Chef Geoff Tracy-will be serving customers at 111 Massachusetts Avenue NW. The restaurant will span approximately 5,500 square feet, with space to accommodate up to 185 customers inside.
Chef Tracy generously set aside some time to fill in What Now DC and its readers on Chef Geoff’s new Mount Vernon Triangle space. He explains that the location appealed to him thanks to its “beautiful views of the Capitol dome…Patio diners will enjoy this while dining al fresco.” He adds: “The neighborhood is thriving, the Georgetown Capitol Campus is growing, and it will be exciting to bring a new neighborhood restaurant to the area.”
Local foodies will, of course, be invested in Chef Geoff’s cuisine. The concept manages to ensure each location offers something unique, while honoring the dishes existing fans have come to know and love. Tracy offers a glimpse of what’s in store for the Mount Vernon Triangle menu, saying: “The menu is in development but for 26 years my mantra has been ‘great food, libation, and merriment’. Look for dry aged burgers made from Maryland’s Roseada Farms on our housemade sesame buns, fresh housemade pastas, funky pizza pies, and Chef Geoff classics like the Madras Curry Chicken and Jumbo Shrimp & Very Gouda Grits, plus delicious desserts from our pastry chef, and gelato and sorbet from Dolcezza.”
While a standard meal at Chef Geoff’s would be a wonderful experience in and of itself, the restaurant offers plenty of enticing extras sure to draw customers in. Tracy explains: “As always Happy Hour and Brunch will be a big deal. We also like to do special nights like Mussel Mondays, Burger Nights, and Half Price Wine Wednesday. Follow me @chef_geoffs in Instagram for a sense of what we do and updates on the project.”
A trusted design firm is helping to ensure Chef Geoff’s new home is warm and welcoming. Tracy states: “As for the ambience, our friends at 3877 Design have taken aspects of my other restaurants and designed a cozy and welcoming environment. Their attention to detail has been impressive. I think people will truly enjoy it.”
Mount Vernon Triangle foodies will be able to check out Chef Geoff’s cuisine for themselves when it opens either late this year or early next.
