Here’s the scoop; a celebrated ice cream chain is getting ready to serve another helping of its sweet treats to the DMV. Van Leeuwen is opening its third Arlington storefront in Ballston, and the signs suggest it’s coming soon, reports popular media outlet ARLNow.

The ice cream chain’s 4075 Wilson Boulevard scoop shop has been generating buzz since May of last year, when it was mere speculation. However official signage placed in the storefront has taken that speculation to certainty.

While the branding is a good indicator of forward momentum, an opening timeline remains elusive. What Now DC has reached out to management and will update readers as details emerge.

Founded in New York in 2008, Van Leeuwen quickly wow-ed the ice cream world through its commitment to simple but delicious ingredients. The website explains: “What could be happier than that magic combination of milk, cream, eggs, and cane sugar (or coconuts, cashews and oats for our vegan friends)? Yes, our ice cream has fat. And that’s okay. It’s good-good, not good-bad.”

Van Leeuwen caters to both customers looking for traditional favorite flavors like strawberry and vanilla bean and those hoping to take a walk on the wilder side with unexpected options including peanut butter brownie honeycomb and strawberry matcha latte.
