A recent permit filing shows that Buck Mason is planning to open a new location at 7802 Girard Avenue, Suite B, which is currently under review. The new store would take over a space previously occupied by CP Shades, a garment-dyed clothing retailer.
The new 1,896-square-foot store would mark an experience-driven concept, as the company is currently hiring for both retail and café-related roles in La Jolla, signaling a broader expansion in the San Diego coastal area.
The brand, rooted in a Californian ethos, combines old-school manufacturing techniques with modern technology to produce timeless, high-quality garments and “American classics” designed to outlive their customers.
Some existing locations feature Fast Times, an in-store coffee concept described by the brand as “diner coffee, done right,” blending retail with hospitality and incorporating custom ceramics with design elements. Locations with the coffee concept include Abbot Kinney in California, SoHo in New York, and 12 South in Nashville.
Buck Mason was founded by Erik Allen Ford and Sasha Koehn and originally operated out of a 350-square-foot garage with locally-made jeans and T-shirts. The brand opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Venice, California, in 2015. This new store would be its 14th in California, where the company is also headquartered.
