West Hollywood’s Connie and Ted’s to Bid Farewell

A longtime Los Angeles favorite, Connie and Ted’s is known for serving New England-style seafood fare. Founded by renowned chef Michael Cimarusti and partners Donato Poto and Crisi Echiverri, the restaurant started its journey in 2013. The menu includes fresh oysters, lobster rolls, chowders, and other sustainably sourced seafood items.

The restaurant team announced the closure via Instagram. The team wrote, “After nearly 13 remarkable years, Connie & Ted’s will be closing its doors on July 1st.”

They also thanked the community for their support and said, “To everyone who joined us for countless lobster rolls, martinis, oysters, celebrations, late-night dinners, game days, and everyday moments in between: thank you.”

“Your support over the past 13 years has meant more to us than words can ever fully express,” added the team. In the official announcement, the restaurant team did not share any specific reason for closing.

According to Eater, the restaurant team cited financial challenges as the reason for closure. “Overwhelming challenges the hospitality industry is facing, including ongoing recovery from operating at limited capacity during the pandemic and rising costs of labor and goods,” stated the report.

Story Behind the Restaurant

The restaurant was established as a tribute to Cimarusti’s grandparents, Connie and Ted.

Connie and Ted were both from England and moved to the United States as children and got married in 1940. Their lives centered on family and fishing in Rhode Island, values that influenced Cimarusti.

He built the restaurant around his grandparents’ legacy, turning it into one of LA’s most respected seafood spots.

In the post, the team reflected on the restaurant journey and said, “What began as an homage to our Rhode Island roots, a lifelong love of fishing, and the time-honored traditions of New England seafood grew into something far greater than we ever could have imagined: a gathering place for our community, a celebration of responsibly sourced seafood, and the backdrop to countless memories shared around the table.”

The team encourages the community to visit the restaurant. They wrote, “Over the next few weeks, we hope you’ll join us once more for your favorite dishes, one more lobster roll, one more martini toast, and one more evening together at Connie & Ted’s, as we celebrate the everlasting memories and community that have defined the restaurant over the past decade and some.”

With the closure of Connie and Ted’s, the West Hollywood community will be saying goodbye to a staple.
