Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain Wawa is preparing to officially enter the Tennessee market, with the company now targeting a June 18 opening for its upcoming Clarksville location at 1290 Parkway Place, according to reporting from the Nashville Business Journal.
The Clarksville outpost will mark the brand’s first Tennessee store and the latest step in Wawa’s ongoing push into the Greater Nashville region, where multiple locations are already in development. Previously announced sites include Madison, Hermitage, Murfreesboro, Bellevue, Springfield, Gallatin, and additional Middle Tennessee communities.
According to prior WhatNow Nashville reporting, the company has outlined plans for dozens of Tennessee locations over the next decade as it continues expanding across the Southeast.
The Clarksville project is expected to represent a multi-million-dollar investment for the company, with previous announcements indicating each Tennessee store will employ roughly 35 associates once operational.
Originally established in Pennsylvania, Wawa has grown into a major convenience retailer with more than 1,000 locations nationwide. According to Wawa’s website the company is particularly known for its built-to-order hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, breakfast sandwiches, specialty beverages, and other freshly prepared grab-and-go menu offerings.
“We are excited to bring our unique combination of fresh food and beverage, convenience and service to Tennessee for the very first time,” Wawa President Brian Schaller said in a recent company announcement regarding the opening.
