Lehigh Valley is set to welcome a new thrift store this summer.
Savers will open its doors at 2192 W. Union Blvd. in Bethlehem.
The new location will mirror other Savers stores with a “bright, organized layout.” Thousands of gently used items will be added to the sales floor daily, offering a wide selection of secondhand goods, including clothing, books and household items, a Savers spokesperson told What Now Philadelphia.
“The Bethlehem site was selected for its accessibility and strong fit with our thrift model. We believe it will resonate with the local community by making it easy for residents to shop for affordable clothing and housewares, as well as donate gently used items they no longer need to our store’s nonprofit partner,” the spokesperson said.
What sets Savers apart is each store, including this location, partners with a local nonprofit by accepting donated goods on its behalf and paying the organization for those items.
From 2021 to 2025, Savers paid $534 million to nonprofit partners and prides itself on reducing waste, diverting 3.6 billion pounds of goods from North American landfills, according to the shop’s website.
“As a leader and pioneer of the for-profit thrift category, we seek to positively impact the environment by reducing waste, promoting reuse of textiles and household goods, the recycling of excess metal, cardboard, and plastic, and extending the life of reusable goods,” the website reads.
The first Savers store opened in 1954 in San Francisco’s Mission District inside a former movie theater. Today, the company operates more than 350 locations across the United States, Canada and Australia under six banners: Savers, Value Village, Value Village Boutique, Village des Valeurs, Unique and 2A Thrift.
The brand operates two locations in Philadelphia, as well as stores in King of Prussia and Fairless Hills. In addition to the Bethlehem opening, it is also expanding to Harrisburg in May and Lancaster this fall.
“Bringing Savers to a community not currently served by our stores is especially meaningful. We’re excited to expand access to secondhand, welcome new shoppers, and offer a sustainable and affordable way to thrift,” the spokesperson said.
