After more than half a century of service, Dutch Kitchen Restaurant is preparing to close its doors permanently. The Amish-inspired restaurant will serve its final meals on May 30. The owner said the restaurant is closing due to health issues.
Half-Century-Old Dutch Kitchen Restaurant Says Goodbye
A longtime favorite restaurant, Dutch Kitchen Restaurant is located at 6803 KS-61 in Hutchinson, Kansas and the restaurant was founded in 1971. The menu features Amish-inspired comfort dishes like fried chicken sandwiches and hot roast beef, along with freshly baked sweet treats. It features 72 varieties of whole pies.
The owner shared the closure announcement on social media. The owner wrote, “All good things must come to an end! Or so they say. The Dutch Kitchen has been around for 55 years, serving our parents and grandparents.”
In the post, the owner, Deron Nisly, cited health issues as the reason for the restaurant’s closure. “However, after 12 years, due to my health, we will be closing the doors of the Dutch Kitchen at the end of this month.”
Following the closure news, regular customers and fans of the restaurant expressed disappointment on social media.
Longtime Kansas Restaurant Still Looking for Buyers
According to the announcement, the restaurant has been seeking a buyer in recent years to continue operations. “For the last 3 years, we have been looking for a buyer for the restaurant, but so far no one has taken the challenge,” added the owner.
“Still, we do believe that there is someone out there that will have the vision to see this restaurant continue in this community!”
The restaurant thanked the community for supporting it for 55 years: “We do thank all of our loyal customers for the 55 years of continual support that this community has given us.”
For its last weeks of operation, Dutch Kitchen Restaurant invites the community to visit and enjoy its favorite meals.
