Saluhall Food Hall, in the heart of San Francisco, is preparing to welcome a new coffee shop, full of tradition. Oklava Café is slated to debut at 945 Market St, Floor 2, in late June/early July, bringing its rich tradition of Turkish breakfast and desserts with a contemporary twist to downtown San Francisco, according to owner Aziz Aslan.
In an interview with WhatNow, Aslan confirmed that the new location will introduce an expanded food program centered on Turkish cuisine. “Our first location is mainly a small coffee shop with desserts and baked goods. At this location, we’re also going to be serving food as well, including flatbreads, bowls, cooked meat dishes, and salads.”
The Café blends Turkish tradition with American favorites, including the Baklava Cheesecake, in a unique twist on traditional pistachio baklava. Oklava Café also offers products such as yeasted buns stuffed with cheese and olives. Guests can also expect fresh cakes, pastries, Turkish delights, full-service coffee offerings, Turkish tea, and traditional Turkish coffee.
According to Aslan, the opportunity came as the company was actively searching for a second location when representatives from the food hall reached out with the available space.
“It was a ready and quick setup for us,” Aslan said.
The owner also shared optimism about San Francisco’s evolving restaurant scene and said the neighborhood’s growing activity helped influence the decision.
“San Francisco is right now picking up. It’s coming back, actually,” Aslan said. “I hope it will be much better in the future.”
The café’s proximity to IKEA was another appealing factor for the business, according to Aslan.
