A recently approved ABC Inspection Zoning Permit filed under the name “Abyssinia” indicates potential changes at 4808 Central Avenue in East Charlotte.
The filing is tied to the exact address currently occupied by Queen Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar in the Plaza Central Shopping Center. Public records show the permit was issued for the active restaurant location, which continues to operate at the Central Avenue address.
Additional zoning, use, and signage permits associated with the project were submitted on May 15 by Noah Mesgane, who operates Queen Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar with his wife, Eden.
While details about the project remain limited, the introduction of a new business name at the address suggests a possible rebranding, new concept, or other operational change involving the existing Queen Sheba restaurant. No formal announcement regarding the plans has been made.
Queen Sheba has long served as a destination for Ethiopian cuisine in East Charlotte, offering traditional dishes such as tibs, kitfo, lentil-based stews, vegetarian platters, and injera-based combination meals, according to Charlotte’s Got A Lot.
What Now Charlotte reached out to Mesgane regarding the filing. While he did not provide specific details about the project, he indicated the team would share more information once plans are finalized.
What Now Charlotte will continue to follow the project and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
