Bitters | Sweet Bar & Bites is coming to 1701 Montford Drive, taking over the former Good Food on Montford space, according to Axios Charlott’es Instagram. Lee Ann Dolcetto and her longtime partner, Brian “Russ” Johnson, are behind the new concept, Dolcetto confirmed to WhatNow Charlotte.
Dolcetto also told WhatNow Charlotte that Bruce Moffett is an investor in the project. The connection between them runs back years: Johnson previously worked with Moffett for approximately six years at Stagioni, while Dolcetto spent 18 years working within Moffett’s restaurant group.
Dolcetto most recently served as general manager of Stagioni and Sala, two of Moffett’s Charlotte concepts, Axios Charlotte reported. Bitters | Sweet marks her move into restaurant ownership after nearly two decades working alongside Moffett.
Johnson also has experience as a restaurant owner. Dolcetto confirmed to WhatNow Charlotte that he is an owner of Public House, adding another connection to the Charlotte restaurant industry beyond his previous work with Moffett.
Moffett is now stepping away from Good Food on Montford after nearly two decades, Axios Charlotte reported. The restaurant’s final day of service was Saturday, August 29, bringing the longtime concept’s run at the Montford Drive address to a close.
Good Food on Montford became known as one of Charlotte’s notable small-plates restaurants and helped usher in the city’s small-plates era, according to the publication. The restaurant was part of Moffett’s broader Charlotte restaurant portfolio, which also includes Barrington’s, Stagioni, Bao and Broth, and Sala.
Now, the Montford Drive space is moving into its next chapter with Dolcetto and Johnson at the helm.
